Visiting Igloolik in Nunavut, we decided to go off by boat with our guide Puasi to admire the majestic wildlife. We had a lot of luck to come across an Iqaluk (Arctic Char in Inuktitut) run since it is a migratory fish. I had never seen such a beautiful, majestic fish in my life. The Arctic Char is the perfect balance between a trout and a salmon. It has the strength of a salmon but the finesse of a trout. I was able to catch one with my fly rod while my guide caught 30 or so with his net. I cooked mine on a piece of stone, natural with no salt and no pepper…an experience and delicacy impossible to forget. SF
